Pile Roubaix

Pile centers around an area of the city Roubaix in France. This district is very poor and abandonned, but you can see signs of progress and change. The change and action of the citizens inspired us to this book, which shows how you can still find happiness and beauty. Some of the locked up houses are bought by the government; housing is absolutely needed and those are still in good shape. They are meant to by torn down as soon as the whole block is bought up, and rebuild into social housing. The quotes are from conversations we had with the citizens, and they show how deeply they are connected to their neighbourhood. They also show their criticism towards the politicians responisble for it. Work in collaboration with Sara Mossong.
